  • TO ALL THE IGNORANT PEOPLE...

There are people rating this masterpiece 1 star because they think it’s “pedophilia.” It is neither legally nor morally pedophilia. Legally, in Italy the age of consent is 17 (which is Elio’s age) so they did nothing wrong in that case. But also morally, this is not wrong. Oliver was not a disgusting man that preyed on little kids. He was a wonderful man that fell in love with someone just 6 years younger than him. And to all the people calling this a “forgettable” movie, I’m not sure we saw the same one. I think about this movie every day. The art, the acting, everything about it. Also, to the people that are disgusted by the peach scene. Honestly, if you can’t handle that, there are a lot of movies out there that have far more vile scenes in them. It’s rated R for a reason. Please tell me you didn’t expect sugar plums and fairies. I saw someone say the scene was unnecessary, but it’s the exact opposite. The peach is literally the trademark for call me by your name. It was such a big thing in the book. If it hadn’t been put in the movie, so many would have been disappointed. Anyways, this movie is truly a work of art, and so is the book. Plz watch it, and don’t let these ignorant people that rated it 1 star convince you not to.

This is brilliant masterpiece. I felt numb emotionally because it captured the emotions around my first love. I was able to celebrate the moment through this movie. Celebrate a part of my life I forgot about. It was not difficult coming out in the late 1980s. I was even in Texas. Surprising to most. Times were different in the late 80s. Maybe it was all the dance parties lol. The harder part was finding someone to date. I was 16 going on 20. More mature than guys my age. I would have crushes on what seemed like "old" guys buy they were 18 or 19. That rejection stays with you and I never quite understood it at the time. The fact that Oliver looks much older than the character is exactly how the guys seemed to me. I did finally meet my first Oliver. I was about Elio's age and he was maybe a year older. Drove 200 miles to visit one weekend. I remember the tears after he left. I remember my parents not understanding why I was so sad. That numbness is good. I felt 17 all over again. If anything, This makes me feel more human than I've felt in a long time. It is a celebration of the first love and those years. The good, the bad, the part of innocense we only get once in a lifetime.

This film I have practically zero words for that's how amazing it is. It's realistic, it's heart-breaking, it's beautiful and bittersweet. I've never really had a top favorite movie before, but this one is now undoubtedly it. I love everything about this whole film and it reminded me of my own first love. I don't typically buy movies, just rent them and or watch them on TV when they play. But all it took was ONE curious watch of this movie and I immediately bought it on my phone afterwards. It was a done deal. Both the movie and the book made me cry like a baby, and they both exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Even the soundtrack was really phenomenal. Basically all the LGBTQ type movies that I have watched are made rather poorly in all honesty, with a sad ending. Though while this movie ending is the way it is, it was done very realistically and also leaves room for a sequel which I PRAY happens in general and with the same exact cast. I now have a full blown adoration/love for Timothée Chalamet in particular and plan on watching other films he's in. I also praise Armie Hammer for his great performance. People who have read the CMBYN book know how it ends, so I am actually quite pleased with how the movie was left off. I also like how the film basically follows the book, using direct quotations/dialogue. I love the whole European feel to the movie, especially the 80s feel as well. Overall, this movie, and the book, are hands down my favorite film and book of all time. I recommend this movie and the book to literally everyone. It is a beyond worthy read and watch.

I wasn't sure about this one since there was so much hype about it and all. I must say this movie is beyond fantastic. The actor who plays Elio takes the spotlight and will forever be in your mind when you think of this movie. What a powerful performance on so many levels and scenes without giving anythig away. He was extraordinary. I rented this from Redbox but I've ordered a copy for my private library. This flick hasa made it into my top 15 of all time. Well worth it.
