  • Terrible film

    By Shrikey
Do you want a film only remotely connected to the first that somehow manages to get wrong everything the first film got right? This is the film for you! Joking aside, it’s really bad. Paper-thin plot that makes no sense at all, and special effects that are clearly not as good as the original. It’s hard to go wrong with an action movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters, but Pacific Rim 2 does so without flinching.
  • What?

don't know what would make the haters were looking for -- as always its always about the story not tech, enemies, etc. This has good action and acting
  • Sequels attentioning for Sagas

I think it was pretty good. I've seen better and they did step up and avoid the B-Rated crap graphics. More background attention could have been added for 30 minutes to know what this was all about. Then they added the end scene which has been seen on three movies already. "We're coming for you!"

BAD BAD BAD BAD.... I'm a huge fan of the first Pacific Rim, a truly masterpiece from Del Toro, and sadly now the franchise is forever gone. Terrible acting, terrible storyline, terrible "jokes", terrible character development, I can go on and on, just save your money and don't watch it.
  • Such a great series!

The first movie was a hidden gem! It was great and I feel they followed it up well with this installment! Can’t wait for the next movie! There are so many directions possible with this franchise! These movies are a must see!
  • Fun, fun, fun

Does it make sense? No. Does it need to? No.
  • What happened?

The first movie felt fresh and original. The sequel is total garbage without any redeeming qualities.

I thought the first Pacific Rim was good dumb fun, nothing else. Characters and story were a bit thin (not annoying, mind you, just underdeveloped) but the fighting was awesome and that was all I ever asked for. So I went into Uprising with low expectations, since everyone acted like the first movie was a masterpiece when the trailer [for Uprising] released. However this movie only made me appreciate the first movie more. You know everything you liked and disliked about the first movie? Uprising removes all the good/decent things and cranks the bad stuff to 11. The story was dopey and created unnecessary plot holes for the first one. The movie was paced so weirdly that it felt like it took forever to gain traction but when it finally does, it gets incredibly rushed and it ends in the blink of an eye. Every single character was straight out of a Marvel movie, making quips every three seconds - this wastes screen time as the characters are busier attempting to make the audience laugh rather than developing personalities (the only onscreen personalities being: unfunny, jerk, and annoying). There were no characters to sympathize with as everyone is a complete a-hole for no good reason. Example: the female lead was the typical angsty teenager that wanted to rebel at any chance she got, and the secondary male lead was the handsome wannabe cool guy that hates the primary male lead for some dumb reason. The first movie had cool monsters and robots that were distinct from one another but Uprising had the most generic designs ever. The fighting wasn’t even good - in the first movie, you could feel the weight of each robot and Kaiju when they moved and punched each other. Uprising felt like a Transformers spin-off and every other generic action movie. And also the first movie established so much cool lore in the PR universe, and Uprising proceeded to take a fat dump on all of it. Going back to jokes, the movie tries way too hard to be funny but it fails miserably. The first movie had humor but it never felt over-the-top and still took itself seriously to maintain decent stakes. In Uprising, not once did I feel tense because the characters constantly broke any possible tension with a stupid joke and I also wasn’t invested in anybody because they were all annoying and I wanted the Kaiju to win by the end. Overall, if you didn’t like the first movie, you won’t like this one. And if you liked the first movie, you REALLY won’t like this one.
  • Not even close to the first one!

A very bad plot with all graphics and no real juice ! I wish I could say more without being a spoiler ! But I suggest anyone going to buy it thinking it’s as exciting as the first one...stay away. Rent it for a dollar or use free points if you are too excited but don’t buy.
