But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his. The all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Disney’s The Lion King utilizes pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way.

  • Too much feminism

    By OreoCheesecake6
I had such high hopes for this movie but it was ruined by all the feminism. First of all the leader of the villains was changed to a female for no reason. Scar is not as prominent anymore. Nala laughs at Simba because he’s a guy. And mocks him after he couldn’t defend her from the hyenas. Throughout the whole movie Nala, puns and takes out Simba all the time, but the only time he actually pins her down in the original movie was removed, and she mocks him even more when she does. Finally in the final battle scene, there was far more screen time given to the females, and Simba even needed to be saved once by Nala. It was made out that the woman battle was the more important battle. This movie was a terrible remake of the original, and I hope this trend doesn’t continue
  • This is not a great remake.

    By Donmega3
Disney has done a remarkable job remaking Disney classics. But Lion King is not a great remake. It feels like watching nat geo with celebrity voice overs. No emotion in the animal faces.
  • Surprisingly good

I really enjoyed the realism here. It served the story themes (loyalty, betrayal, maturity, responsibility) better than the cell animation version. And a nice bonus was the physical quirks and attributes of the actual animals upon which these more realistic characters were based.
  • The King of Disney Live Action

By Nick Nothing But Net Dennison
This Movie was so good like the original but what I loved about what they they did with this movie is that they remastered the music score, and added more detail to this epic story. This movie isn't just a animated movie... its the King of Disney Live Action movies.

What a waste of time because what's the point of watching this remake where i can watch the original instead this is like a double feature.

I know that some people don’t like live-action remakes but this one was amazing definitely up there I always see the remakes and I think that some of better then others but for this one it was about the same for me
  • Good movie

    By Ryi1988
This was a good movie. It was very close to the original. There were some changes but it’s cause with live action you can do what the original did. There were some added things which kept it fresh and new. That was a great idea. The voice acting was good. The music was true with added music. The design on the animals were very nice. I recommend this to any Disney fan.
  • The most disrespectful thing that Disney has ever done

    By Eli Himself
The original Lion King is amazing, it left a huge impact on animation for being the highest grossing 2D animated film ever made. It was also backed up with an engaging story, memorable characters, fantastic songs, and a deep message about handling the death of loved ones. Clearly, Disney doesn’t understand the meaning of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and this atrocious demake shows how much money Disney is willing to scam out of people’s nostalgia for these classic films. There’s so much more to the original Lion King outside of nostalgia, the whole film has aged flawlessly, it’s a timeless masterpiece. This demake does absolutely nothing to make it stand out as it’s own movie. In fact, literally everything has been severely butchered, all of the emotion, beauty and intensity of the original is gone. It’s so awful that when Mufasa got killed in the “”””live action”””” demake, I was actually laughing for how terrible it was. I think it’s safe to say that this is the low-point of Disney, it’s a souless, shameless, disrespectful, and disgraceful piece of junk that spits all over the original, further encouraging the awful stereotype that “animation is just for kids,” you can’t say that when A. That is a completely false statement, animation deserves far more respect than it gets from the general public. B. this horrible demake is entirely animated, just trying to look as realistic as it can. Don’t waste your money on this horrific downgrade of the Lion King, go spend the money on the 1994 version instead. It’s more expressive, more engaging, has better acting, and it’s the more timeless version, because 10 or 20 years from now, the 2019 Lion King is going to be seen as nothing more than a product of it’s time with no purpose. I seriously hope Disney finally wakes up and realizes that the film’s quality is what comes first, not the money.
