The greatest adventure of all time begins with Star Trek, the incredible story of a young crew's maiden voyage onboard the most advanced starship ever created: the U.S.S. Enterprise. On a journey filled with action, comedy and cosmic peril, the new recruits must find a way to stop an evil being whose mission of vengeance threatens all of mankind. The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of bitter rivals. One, James Kirk (Chris Pine), is a delinquent, thrill-seeking Iowa farm boy. The other, Spock (Zachary Quinto), was raised in a logic-based society that rejects all emotion. As fiery instinct clashes with calm reason, their unlikely but powerful partnership is the only thing capable of leading their crew through unimaginable danger, boldly going where no one has gone before.

  • The old Star Trek was better

    By WorldQuestioner
I'd actually give this movie a four star, but I'm shocked by the positive reviews so I will give it a three star to stress some of the negative. I reallylike the action and thrill, but... I don't like the juvenile nature o the movie. The old Star Trek (esp. Deep Space 9) was better. I don't like that James T. Kirk is chaotic, childish, and is so into drugs and alcohol. Most importantly, I don't like the thin, small, or whatever you call it, actors. I especially don't like Zachary Quinto who plays Spock. I liked Leonard Nimoy much better than Zachary Quinto. He was bigger and had a deep voice. I don't as much mind Chris Pine who plays James T. Kirk. Chris was as good as William Shatner, but not better. Anton Yelchin who played Chekov wasn't too bad, Chekov was small before, and I don't know the name of the old actor. I don't know about Karl Urban. He's taller than the old actor (I don't remember his name) of Doctor McCoy. The old Hikaru Sulu looked similar to the new, but I think he looked bigger. I don't like that Scotty has a small head. The old Scotty has a big head. I also don't like the travel back in time making the reboot. I'd just like a brand new separate universe continuity. Also, too much western. That's cheesy. Music is cheesy as well. I think Star Trek should have more techno, trance, and house music. It doesn't matter that trance isn't popular. Too much white in structures. I want more silver, gray, and black. I also don't like the graphics particularly well. A 2D black hole, and the nebulae look like hand painting. It shouldn't be about money. It should be about quality and the goodness of the movie. It's better to make a great movie and get little money from it than it is to make a bad movie and get tons of money from it. Hope the TV series will be better.

  • Awesome Star Trek

This movie is awesome and it never ever gets boring. The acting, effects, sound, and music are all fantastic. My only minor gripe would be all the shaky cam and excessive lens flares, but eh....everything else overpowers those minor complaints. This is a movie that I can finish and restart and be just as interested as if I never saw it before. A job well done to all involved and thanks for a great movie!
  • Star Trek In Name Only

A safe, fun generic action movie that could've had any brand slapped on it.

I hated When I had to watch Star Trek re-runs when I was a kid at my grandparents house. It wasn't the concept or the stories. It was Shatner that I just couldn't take. To me his performance was ridicules. So color me surprised when I was dragged to the new Trek with friends. I loved it. Chris Pine makes an exciting and extremely watchable Kirk. Quinto compliments Nemoy's Spock really well. Scotty, Bones, Uhura, , and Chekov ; all perfectly cast. Love the part where Scotty asks for a towel you can plainly see Quinto is trying really hard not to laugh. Now I truly value and understand the message of Star Trek and the beautiful vision of a future where people except and respect others for who they are and what they believe. Without trying to change anyones beliefs or looking down on others. I am thankful for my friends "'dragging" me to it. Just goes to show being close minded, because one actor (Shatner) ruined a great show because of ego, limits all aspects of life. Learning and entertainment. So Thank You to Chris Pine for being a real Captain Kirk so that for me personally this whole Trek world is a world I now want to know more about and look forward to more. 🕯
